AniManga: Trigun, Freezing and Basilisk

This post is for my anime addicted, otakus looking for the next anime series to keep you entertained. I recently returned from a conference in France where my hotel room had no cable. So at night I would watch a variety of shows and movies. Some of the series are still ongoing and some were remakes of older series and others are new. Trigun, Freezing (ongoing), and Basilisk are all series worth watching depending on your taste in anime.

Trigun - is a comedy action series about a gunslinger named Vash the Stampede who is known to leave a trail of destruction in his path. Really he’s just a goofy kid with amazing reflexes, who believes in peace over violence and making the world a safer place. He's followed by two Bernardelli Insurance Society employees who chase Vash around in order to minimize the damages caused by his appearance. Most of the damage attributed to Vash is actually caused by bounty hunters in pursuit of the "$$60,000,000,000" (sixty billion "double dollars") bounty on Vash's head. He is occasionally joined by a priest, Nicholas D. Wolfwood, who, like Vash, is a superb gunfighter with a mysterious past. The show started as a manga and was adapted into a 26 episode television series in 1998. In 2010 they released a film titled Trigun: Badlands Rumble.

Freezing - is a SERIOUS, Sci-Fi, Fantasy, Action Ecchi series that is ongoing. Set in a slightly futuristic world, Earth was invaded and is at war with aliens from another dimension called the Nova. In order to counter them, Pandoras and Limiters, genetically modified girls with super fighting skills and their male partners who use special "freezing" powers to limit their opponent's mobility, are made to fight against the Nova. The series focuses on Kazuya Aoi, a Limiter whose late sister was a Pandora, and Satellizer el Bridget, a powerful Pandora nicknamed "The Untouchable Queen," both who are enrolled at the West Genetics Academy. The story follows Kazuya's friendship with Satellizer, the students of the Academy and Earth's war against the Nova. The show is violent, sexual and fast-paced like High School of the Dead on steroids. It only has 3 episodes released but if you like action the rest is worth the wait. The clip below doesn't do the battle scenes justice.

Basilisk - Was a manga turned to 24 episode anime series packed with action. The story takes place in the year 1614. Two ninja clans, Tsubagakure of the Iga and Manjidani of Kouga, battle each other to determine which grandson of Tokugawa Ieyasu will become the next shogun. The deadly competition between 10 elite ninja from each clan unleashes a centuries-old hatred that threatens to destroy all hope for peace between them. Its a cross between Ninja Scrolls and Romeo and Juliet because the grandchildren of the rival clan leaders are in Love and soon may have to face each other in combat. Take a peek.

Fresh Faces

There's some good music coming out. Not just on mixtapes I've heard a few albums that were banging. I like that 2011 has allot of new blood and fresh faces in the industry making moves. I talk to some artists and their sour cuz of how saturated the industry is right now. May view is, if your music is dope and you grind it will shine and rise to the top. No matter how many catz there are in the business. (real talk)

Below are some new tunes by a few fresh faces and veterans from all points on the map. There's Mister F.A.B. from Cali, Tone Trump from Philly, Talib Kweli from NYC, CoN from Miami and Kardinal Offishall reppin the T-Dot. Check em' out!

The Renaissance Man Art

There are few notable figures in history that have been as talented as Leonardo da Vinci. He wasn't just a painter although he is considered one of the best to have ever lived. He was a painter, sculptor, architect, musician, scientist, mathematician, engineer, inventor, anatomist and writer

Leonardo di ser Piero da Vinci (April 15, 1452 – May 2, 1519) was a renaissance man. A man whose unquenchable curiosity was equaled only by his powers of ingenuity and invention. Da Vinci painted the The Last Supper, Mona Lisa and the Vitruvian Man. The Vitruvian Man painting has become a cultural icon being reproduced on everything from the euro to text books, posters and t-shirts. He also created blueprints for a helicopter, tank, calculator and numerous military weapons that have been built and tested to function.

Dan Browns 2003 bestselling novel The Da Vinci Code explored his past involvement with secret societies. Below are some paintings and sketches by a true renaissance man whose genius and passion for creation have spawned inventions still in use today.

Top Live MC's

I've been feeling kind of nostalgic lately, listening to older music. There is definitely a lack of substance in today's music scene. The new style focuses more on the beat and cadence like the group Travis Porter and less on lyrical content. I don't hate on this cuz it is music and introducing different styles helps the culture grow. With that said, out of the millions of rappers in the industry I only listen to a few.

Below are my Top live MC's for the moment. These catz embody what it means to be a lyricist. No matter what type of beat is playing they spit something witty and lyrically impressive so that you the listener will rewind the track and play it again. This was a tough decision cuz my opinion changes by the milli-second and catz like Kool G. Rap, Big Daddy Kane, Ice-Cube, and Smif-N-Wesson were all favorites.

I based this list of MC's off music released in the last few years, including mixtapes, features and solo projects. Below are songs by Nas, Ludicris, Rakim, Twista, Sean Price and Jadakiss. All talented lyricists who have consistently dropped new material and their rhymes have substance. Take a listen.

Remembering 2010

2011 Welcome to the New Year! Its a new year, new plans, and new ambitions. To start it off right I dedicate this post to remembering 2010 with a few highlights and failures.

Last year dance music took the U.S. by storm. Its always been big in Europe but now dance style music is being incorporated into most of the Hip-Hop and R&B released. 2010 also marked the "Death of auto-tune" only to have it return with a vengeance a few months later. Out of all the artists who use auto-tune T-Pain does it with style. Here are a few hot tracks from last year by artists MF Grimm, Brotha Lynch Hung, Wu-Tang Clan, and Wiz Khalifa.

In 2010 was the attack on Wikileaks a non-profit organization that reports news for the people by the people, and its founder Julian Assange. It also documented the privatization of the military and the rise of Black Water mercenaries being deployed in the U.S. and Iraq. Black Water has been termed the secret police working from the shadows to spread terror democracy throughout the Middle-East. Check out the clip below.

Finally, there were technological advancements in cell phones, medicine, aviation, and space exploration. Below are a few notable advancements in 2010.
